Elden Ring Nightreign offers some fantastic gear drops. Sometimes, you might even want to share that gear with others, even if you plan to keep using it yourself. Luckily, a gear duplication glitch makes it easy to share the spoils—at least while the exploit remains active.
I first learned about this thanks to PC Gamer, which published a quick guide on how to perform the duplication. The process is actually quite simple: if two players attempt to pick up the same weapon simultaneously, they both receive a copy. This gives you the original item and a duplicate. (Don't dwell on which is which—it might confuse everyone.)
Not only is the glitch straightforward, but it's also easy to repeat, and there's hardly any penalty for failing. If the pickup attempt goes wrong, you can simply try again. In fact, the only real risk is that you'll have to stand still and coordinate the drop-and-pick-up maneuver, which is rarely a good idea in Nightreign. The safest moments to attempt this are during the brief respite between days or within the alabaster alcove just before the final Nightlord showdown.
As PC Gamer pointed out, they weren't the first to discover this trick. Various YouTubers and Reddit users have also posted about the easy duplication method, so the secret is well and truly out.
Whether FromSoftware will attempt to patch this glitch remains to be seen. Its use is somewhat niche. Since there's no built-in voice chat to coordinate with random players online, it's not really feasible to start dropping your best gear and hope everyone understands what to do.
Even for grouped players using Discord or another chat method, you'd still need equipment that other characters actually want. In my experience, Elden Ring Nightreign is fairly generous with loot drops, and each character tends to have specific weapon preferences. Unless your entire party is composed of identical builds—like three Ironeyes, for instance.
The duplication glitch is handy for characters who want to double up on specific weapons, such as the Executor, but it's not an instant-win solution. Still, for some fun or to help a friend who hasn't found solid weapons by the final day, it's a useful trick to keep in your back pocket.
