*Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2* is packed with engaging side quests that offer deeper insights into the game's rich tapestry of characters. One such quest is *Bad Blood*, which not only enhances your understanding of the narrative but also provides rewarding gameplay. Here's a detailed guide on how to start and complete this compelling quest.
How to Start Bad Blood in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
To initiate the *Bad Blood* quest, you'll need to progress in the main storyline until you're tasked with finding Mutt. Your journey will lead you to a clearing near Bozhena's hut, where Henry suggests checking with Bozhena for any leads. Visit her hut and inquire about Mutt. Bozhena will reveal her concern over her missing daughter, Pavlena. By agreeing to help, you'll officially add *Bad Blood* to your quest journal.
Gather Information
Begin by traveling to Troskowitz and speaking with Bailiff Thrush, followed by a conversation with Innkeeper Betty at the local tavern. These interactions will shed light on Bozhena and Pavlena's past, explaining their ostracism from the community. Next, head to the designated area to converse with the woodcutters. Seek out Woodcutter Dushko for guidance to Roman's house, but remember to save your game beforehand as you'll need to lockpick the door.
Inside Roman's house, inspect Pavlena's basket and then revisit Dushko for further insights. He'll direct you to a clearing near Roman's house, a spot known to the couple.
Search the Scene
From Roman's house, follow the objective marker downhill towards the stream. Turn left at the two large boulders to discover the site. Follow the blood trail to find Roman's body. Continue your investigation by speaking with Hogherd Hugo and then return to Troskowitz to discuss with Hired Hand Straw. A successful dialogue check with Straw will unveil details about Jakesh and the truth behind Roman and Pavlena's story.
Afterwards, you can consult with Thrush about Straw's fate. Then, proceed to the rocks south of Zhelejov to further your investigation.
Confront Ota
Navigate the objective area, circling the large boulder to find a pathway. Ascend the ladder to encounter Ota and Pavlena. With sufficient Charisma, you can navigate the dialogue successfully by choosing the following options: "What’s your name?", "Let her go and I’ll let you go," and "I’ll put in a good word for you with His Lordship." Once Ota releases Pavlena, she will take matters into her own hands and kill him. After the confrontation, speak with Pavlena and return to Bozhena. Bozhena will then request that you deal with Jakesh.
Kill Jakesh or Make Peace
The final step involves deciding Jakesh's fate. You can find him at his child's grave on the farm. You have the option to kill him or attempt to broker peace between him and Bozhena. Alternatively, you can choose to kill Bozhena instead, though this will end the quest differently.
In my playthrough, I chose to eliminate Jakesh and reported back to Bozhena, securing a reward.
Should You Kill Jakesh?
Opting to kill Jakesh will lower your reputation in Troskowitz but will significantly boost your standing with Bozhena and Pavlena. This choice also unlocks new dialogue options with Pavlena and grants you a necklace that she received from Roman.
Alternatively, if you choose to spare Jakesh and mediate peace, he will offer you 100 groschen. When informing Bozhena, you can decide to keep the money or share it, leading to Bozhena and Pavlena's reintegration into the community.
