Pokémon TCG Pocket Adds Lugia and Ho-Oh

The highly anticipated Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket expansion, "The Wisdom of Sea and Sky," is coming soon. Launching on July 30, 2025, this major update introduces the legendary duo Lugia and Ho-Oh as powerful EX cards to the mobile game.

What to Expect

The expansion spotlights the Johto region. Lugia and Ho-Oh take center stage, accompanied by classic favorites including Eeveelutions, Baby Pokémon, and familiar Trainer cards like Lyra and Silver.

New gameplay mechanics are also being introduced. For the first time, the game will feature Pokémon with attacks that require no Energy. This change opens up exciting new deck-building possibilities, particularly for players who favor fast-paced strategies or wish to bypass traditional Energy management.

The expansion also debuts new items such as the Energy Switch, Rescue Scarf, and the Lyra and Silver Supporter cards. Additionally, the Lugia EX and Ho-Oh EX cards appear to encourage deck strategies that utilize multiple types of Energy.

Major Updates to the Pokémon TCG Pocket Trade System

Starting July 30, 2025, at 06:00 UTC, a new wishlist system will allow you to showcase the cards you're seeking. You can list up to 20 desired cards and feature three of them prominently on your profile.

The trading currency is also being revamped. Trade tokens are being phased out and will no longer be used for transactions. Instead, trades for higher-rarity cards—those rated ♦♦♦, ♦♦♦♦, or ★—will require a new resource called Shinedust.

Shinedust can be obtained by completing achievements, finishing in-game missions, or by acquiring duplicate cards. Any remaining Trade Tokens in your inventory can be exchanged for Pack Hourglasses or Shinedust, with a limit of up to 60 Pack Hourglasses.

A temporary trading suspension will be in effect from July 25 at 06:00 UTC until July 30 at 05:59 UTC to implement these updates. Once trading resumes, all new features, including the wishlist and Shinedust trading, will be active.
