Marvel Rivals' Hitbox Sparks Debate

Author : Max Update:Jan 24,2025

Marvel Rivals

A recent Reddit thread highlighted a significant issue in Marvel Rivals: broken hitboxes. A video showcased Spider-Man hitting Luna Snow from several meters away, a clear indication of inaccurate collision detection. Further examples showed hits registering despite visually missing the target. While lag compensation was suggested as a possible cause, the core problem appears to be flawed hitbox implementation. Professional players have even demonstrated consistent damage when aiming slightly right of the reticle, but not when aiming left, further highlighting the inconsistency. This isn't an isolated incident; multiple characters exhibit severely broken hitboxes.

Despite this, Marvel Rivals, often dubbed the "Overwatch killer," has enjoyed a remarkably successful launch on Steam. Its first day saw a peak of over 444,000 concurrent players – a number comparable to Miami's population. However, optimization remains a major concern. Players with mid-range graphics cards, such as the Nvidia GeForce 3050, report noticeable frame rate drops. Despite this performance issue, many players consider Marvel Rivals a fun and worthwhile game. The game's simpler revenue model also contributes to its positive reception. Crucially, battle passes do not expire, eliminating the pressure to constantly grind, a feature many players appreciate.
