Pokémon GO: Morpeko Arrives, Dynamax/Gigantamax Teased!
Get ready for significant updates to Pokémon GO! Developer Niantic has hinted at the arrival of Dynamax and Gigantamax mechanics, features initially seen in Pokémon Sword and Shield. This follows the confirmed addition of Morpeko, a Pokémon known for its form-changing abilities.
Galar Region Focus?
The upcoming season promises "big changes, big battles, and…big Pokémon," strongly suggesting the introduction of Dynamax and Gigantamax. Niantic's announcement specifically mentions Morpeko's form-changing via Charged Attacks, opening up exciting new battle strategies. The speculation is that this could pave the way for other Galar Pokémon like Mimikyu and Aegislash.
While details are scarce, the "big" changes are expected in September. The current Shared Skies season ends September 3rd, fueling speculation of a Galar-themed successor. However, the implementation of Dynamax and Gigantamax in Pokémon GO remains unconfirmed, and the mechanics' in-game adaptation is yet to be revealed. In Sword and Shield, these mechanics were tied to Power Spots; whether a similar system will be used in Pokémon GO remains to be seen.
