After years of speculation, Nintendo has finally unveiled the much-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2, and the specs have exceeded many expectations. The system supports up to 120fps and can deliver 4K resolution when docked, marking a significant upgrade over its predecessor.
During today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo showcased various features of the new system. The Nintendo Switch 2 boasts a larger 7.9-inch built-in screen compared to the original Switch. Despite maintaining the same thickness of 13.9mm, it now features about double the pixels, offering a 1080p display in handheld mode at up to 120fps. This upgrade includes an LCD screen with HDR support, which extends to 4K resolution and HDR when docked.The new Joy-Con 2 controllers introduce a magnetic connection system, with a release button on the back for easy detachment. The SL and SR buttons on the sides are larger, enhancing playability in horizontal mode, while the left and right sticks have also been upsized. Additionally, the Joy-Con 2 controllers now support mouse control, a feature that was officially revealed during this segment.
In its handheld form, the Nintendo Switch 2 comes equipped with a noise-canceling microphone and supports 3D audio for compatible games. It also features a more robust and adjustable stand compared to the original Switch, allowing for different viewing heights. A top USB port is included, which can be used for external camera connectivity or to charge the system in tabletop mode.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is packed with 256GB of internal storage, providing ample space for games and applications.
