During today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo announced that nearly all games from the Nintendo Switch library will be compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2. However, select titles are set to receive enhanced "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition" versions, featuring exclusive upgrades. These titles include The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and Mario Party: Jamboree.
Each Nintendo Switch 2 Edition game boasts unique enhancements. Super Mario Party: Jamboree, for instance, introduces "Jamboree TV," which incorporates mouse controls, audio recognition, enhanced rumble, and new gameplay modes utilizing a camera accessory.
Following that, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom will feature improved resolution, framerate, and HDR support. Additionally, a new feature within the Nintendo Switch Online app, called Zelda Notes, will provide voice guidance to assist in locating Shrines and Koroks. Players can also share creations in Tears of the Kingdom via QR codes with friends.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land will receive a new exclusive story, Star-Crossed World, along with upgraded graphics and framerates.
Newly announced games like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokemon Legends: Z-A are also getting enhanced versions. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will support mouse controls, offering 4K resolution at 60fps with HDR. Pokemon Legends: Z-A will feature improved resolution and framerates.
These upgraded games will be available in both physical and digital formats. Owners of the original versions on the Nintendo Switch can purchase upgrade packs for select titles such as Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, Mario Party, and Kirby.
