Krafton and Pocket Pair are collaborating to bring a mobile version of Palworld to market. Krafton, known for PUBG, is entering the monster-catching genre with this adaptation. PUBG Studios, a Krafton subsidiary, will develop the mobile version, tailoring the core gameplay for mobile devices. This licensing agreement significantly expands the Palworld IP.
However, many details remain undisclosed. The original Palworld launched on Xbox and Steam in January, later arriving on PlayStation 5 (excluding Japan). The Japan-specific delay is possibly linked to an ongoing Nintendo lawsuit alleging patent infringement concerning the mechanics of capturing Pals (similar to Pokémon). Pocket Pair denies knowledge of the specific patents in question.
This collaboration with Krafton is strategic for Pocket Pair, given the ongoing development of the existing game and the challenges of a mobile port. Krafton's expertise makes this partnership logical, though the mobile project is likely in its early stages.
