Even before its official announcement, many voiced concerns about Game of Thrones: Kingsroad's visuals, describing them as reminiscent of a PlayStation 3-era licensed title or a typical mobile game. Despite the initial skepticism, some remained optimistic, particularly given the scarcity of compelling Game of Thrones games.
The recent Steam Next Fest demo definitively settled the debate. The game, unfortunately, proved to be underwhelming.
Players criticized nearly every aspect: outdated combat, dated graphics, and numerous design choices strongly suggestive of a mobile game origin. Many labeled it a simple mobile port, though even if not, its visual style strongly evokes games from 2010.
While some positive reviews appear on the Steam demo page—often expressing generic enthusiasm like "I really enjoyed the demo, looking forward to the full release"—their authenticity is questionable, raising suspicions of either bot activity or unwavering optimism from the initial supporters.
Game of Thrones: Kingsroad is slated for release on PC (Steam) and mobile devices, though a concrete release date remains unannounced.
