Surging Demand Creates Shortage for Latest Pokemon Expansion
Manufacturer Responds With Increased Production

As reported by IGN on January 16, 2025, The Pokemon Company is addressing supply issues for the new Prismatic Evolutions trading card set.
"We recognize some collectors may face challenges purchasing certain Scarlet & Violet - Prismatic Evolutions products due to overwhelming demand," a company spokesperson stated. "While we regret this inconvenience, we're maximizing production capacity to replenish inventory as quickly as possible."
Though fans may experience temporary delays, the company's rapid response suggests availability should improve soon.
US Retailers Struggle With Allocation Issues

The supply crunch was first highlighted on fan site PokeBeach on January 4, 2025.
Many US game stores report severe shortages as mainstream retailers receive priority allocation. "The problem stems from non-Pokemon specialty stores suddenly requesting stock," explained Deguire, owner of Maryland's Player 1 Services.

Distributors have capped allocations at 10-15% for local retailers to accommodate more stores, while big-box chains like Target maintain full inventory. This limited distribution strategy prioritizes widespread availability over individual store quotas.
The shortage has already inflated secondary market prices - unreleased Elite Trainer Boxes currently sell for $127 versus the $55 MSRP. However, prices should stabilize as The Pokemon Company increases production.
