Popular 1998 Horror Game Announces Full Remake

The House of the Dead 2: Remake – A Classic Returns in Spring 2025

Get ready for a blast from the past! Forever Entertainment and MegaPixel Studio have announced a full remake of the iconic 1998 arcade rail shooter, The House of the Dead 2. Launching on all major platforms in Spring 2025, this updated version promises enhanced visuals, new environments, and exciting gameplay additions.

The original House of the Dead 2, a standout title in its time, offered a unique gameplay experience distinct from contemporaries like Resident Evil. This remake retains the core on-rails shooting mechanics and delightfully gory zombie hordes that defined the original, but with a significant upgrade. Expect remastered audio, modernized graphics, and expanded gameplay.

The announcement trailer showcases the game's revamped look and feel. Players once again step into the shoes of a secret agent battling a massive zombie outbreak. The House of the Dead 2: Remake features overhauled visuals, remastered music, and new environments to explore. Gameplay options include a single-player mode, a cooperative mode for shared zombie-slaying fun, multiple game modes (Classic Campaign and Boss Mode), branching levels, and multiple endings.

Platform Availability and Release Date:

Prepare for high-octane action on Nintendo Switch, PC (GOG and Steam), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The game's authentic retro feel—complete with pulse-pounding music, bloody carnage, and satisfying combo counters—is perfectly complemented by modern visuals and an improved heads-up display (HUD). The release is slated for Spring 2025.

The House of the Dead 2: Remake joins a wave of resurrected classic horror games, following successful remakes of Resident Evil titles and the Clock Tower remaster. Fans of retro zombie horror are in for a treat!
