Will Wright, creator of The Sims, recently unveiled more details about his new AI-powered life simulation game, Proxi, during a Twitch livestream. This innovative title, first announced in 2018, is finally moving closer to release, offering a unique gameplay experience centered around personal memories.
A Deep Dive into Interactive Memories
The livestream, hosted by BreakthroughT1D (a leading T1D research organization), provided insights into Proxi's core mechanics. Players input their real-life memories as text, which the game then transforms into animated scenes. These scenes are customizable, allowing players to refine the visual representation of their recollections using in-game assets.
Each added memory, termed a "mem," trains the game's AI, expanding the player's "mind world"—a 3D environment where memories are represented as interconnected hexagons. As the mind world grows, so does its population of Proxies, representing friends and family. Memories can be arranged chronologically and linked to specific Proxies, creating a dynamic and personalized representation of the player's life. Remarkably, these Proxies are even exportable to other game worlds, including Minecraft and Roblox!
Wright emphasized Proxi's focus on creating a deeply personal experience. He explained the game's design philosophy: "I found myself getting continuously closer and closer to the player. The more I can make a game about you, the more you'll like it."
Proxi is now featured on Gallium Studio's website, with platform announcements expected soon.
