PS Plus Game Tied to May 2025 Hollywood Movie Release

Author : Charlotte Update:May 22,2025

It seems that one of the PlayStation Plus games for May 2025 might have been leaked early. While Sony has yet to confirm anything officially, whispers are swirling that the teen slasher horror game, Until Dawn, could be available for free to PlayStation players next month. The leaked key art hints at it being the Until Dawn Remastered version rather than the original 2014 release, though we won't know for sure until Sony makes an announcement.

PlayStation Plus is an online gaming service designed for PlayStation platforms, offering a range of benefits to its subscribers. These include free monthly games, limited-time trials, online multiplayer access, and exclusive member discounts. Additionally, Extra and Premium members gain access to a vast catalog of current and classic games, though the monthly free games are accessible to all subscribers, regardless of their tier level.

The speculation about Until Dawn's inclusion in May's lineup comes from the PlayStation community on Reddit, with thanks to PushSquare for highlighting the discussion. Some believe this move might be tied to the recent release of the Until Dawn movie, which hit screens just before the weekend. Unfortunately, the movie didn't meet expectations, earning a 5/10 from IGN, with the review stating, "Until Dawn is more disappointing than deadly, leaving all the promise of the horror game behind for a jumble of horror-movie re-creations."

The Until Dawn Remastered game, released in 2024, also received a 5/10 score from IGN, with the review criticizing it as "an overpriced and under-featured remake that seems less like a must-have bit of moonlit murder and something closer to daylight robbery." In contrast, the original 2015 version by Supermassive Games was more favorably received, earning a 7.5/10.

In other PlayStation Plus news, 22 games are scheduled to be removed from the service's library next month. This list includes popular titles such as Grand Theft Auto 5, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, and the last playable versions of first-party titles Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2. With their removal, Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 will no longer be available on modern consoles.
