Metaphor: ReFantazio features eight playable characters: the protagonist and seven companions who join throughout the adventure. While Gallica is present from the start, her combat role is limited initially. Each party member joins on a specific day, tied to story events. Note: Reading further may reveal minor story spoilers.
Party Member Joining Dates in Metaphor: ReFantazio
Each companion awakens to a unique Archetype, usable by any party member after awakening. Some early companions are initially AI-controlled.

Strohl (Warrior): Joins on June 5th (Border Fort events), but his Archetype awakens on June 6th (Nord Mines). Until then, he's AI-controlled.

Grius: Joins after the Border Fort events, but becomes fully playable on June 6th after Strohl's awakening. Grius doesn't undergo an Archetype awakening.

Hulkenberg (Knight): Begins interacting on June 10th, fully joining and awakening her Archetype during the boss fight on June 11th.

Heismay (Thief): His awakening and party join date is July 4th, within Martira's main dungeon.

Junah (Masked Dancer): Awakens and joins the party on August 13th.

Eupha (Summoner): Eupha's joining date is flexible. She joins for the final boss fight on whatever day you complete the Dragon Temple dungeon during your free time on Viraga Island (August 19th - September 4th). Her Bond quest begins after this period.

Basilio (Berserker): Awakens and joins on September 11th (Saint's Day events), becoming fully playable the following day.
