According to journalist Jason Schreier, the acclaimed Rocksteady Studios is developing a new single-player Batman game. Details are limited, with no confirmation whether it's a prequel, sequel to the Arkham series, or a completely new universe. However, one insider suggests it's a Batman Beyond title, setting players in a futuristic Gotham and aiming for a full trilogy, slated for next-generation consoles.

The Arkham series was celebrated for its stunning visuals, and a futuristic Gotham could be Rocksteady's most impressive yet. The Batman Beyond setting also addresses the challenge of replacing the legendary Kevin Conroy, who voiced Batman in the Arkham series, potentially focusing on Terry McGinnis or Damian Wayne—a similar approach considered by Warner Bros. Montreal for their canceled Arkham Knight sequel.
Rocksteady's previous project, an online shooter, underperformed, leading to the cancellation of post-launch plans and a rushed animated ending that retconned controversial plot points, revealing certain characters were clones.
Now, Rocksteady returns to its strengths with a new solo Batman adventure, though insiders suggest it's still several years from release.
