Stalker 2: For Science! Side Quest Walkthrough

In Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, players exploring The Zone will stumble upon various NPCs, triggering quests ranging from small tasks to substantial side missions like "For Science!". This mission involves Skif meeting Yaryk Mongoose, who needs help activating a second measuring device atop a silo. While brief, it rewards players with a Malachite pass, granting access to the STC Malachite facilities.

Initiating the "For Science!" Side Quest

To begin, locate Yaryk Mongoose within the Central Elevator area of the Chemical Plant. Approaching this location will trigger a radio call between Mongoose and Skif.

Upon entering the Central Elevator, go left, past the conveyor belts, and ascend the rusted stairs. Mongoose is on the first floor; vault the railing to reach him and initiate the conversation. He'll explain the need to activate a second device on a nearby silo. Agreeing to his request launches the "For Science!" mission.

Reaching the Silo's Summit

After the conversation, climb to the building's roof. Deal with any rodents encountered and proceed to a room with broken windows. Climb out and use the external ladder to reach the silo walkways.

Beware of electro anomalies; equip appropriate gear. Head left along the silo's top to locate and activate the second measuring device. Activating it will attract a pack of Bloodsuckers. Choose to fight or evade them to return to Mongoose.

Confronting Yaryk Mongoose

Returning to Mongoose, he'll explain the experiment's unforeseen consequences. Players can choose to kill Mongoose for endangering Skif or accept the reward and leave. Neither choice has significant long-term repercussions. Killing Mongoose allows looting the Malachite pass from his corpse.

However, choosing the peaceful option is recommended. This yields the Malachite Pass and some additional rewards, providing access to the STC Malachite base (unless already accessible through the main storyline).
