Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles Reveals Another New Character

Aspyr's upcoming release of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles for modern consoles features a surprising playable character: Jar Jar Binks. A new trailer showcases Jar Jar wielding a large staff in action-packed gameplay.

This isn't the only new addition; Aspyr has unveiled nine other playable characters, with more to come, expanding the already diverse roster of the 2000 original. The updated Jedi Power Battles aims to recapture the nostalgia of the classic while adding modern features like customizable lightsaber colors and cheat code support.

The trailer highlights Jar Jar's signature chaotic style and voice lines. While some fans might have envisioned a "Darth Jar Jar" scenario, the Gungan instead uses a staff in combat. Jar Jar Binks will be playable upon the game's January 23rd launch; pre-orders are available now.

Newly Revealed Playable Characters:

  • Jar Jar Binks
  • Rodian
  • Flame Droid
  • Gungan Guard
  • Destroyer Droid
  • Ishi Tib
  • Rifle Droid
  • Staff Tusken Raider
  • Weequay
  • Mercenary

Aspyr's commitment to expanding the character roster is evident, with a diverse range of additions including droids, various alien species, and even a Staff Tusken Raider. The inclusion of multiple Gungans, with both Jar Jar and a Gungan Guard, is a notable detail.

With the release date fast approaching, fans eagerly anticipate experiencing these new characters. Aspyr's past work on re-releasing classic Star Wars titles, such as Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, suggests a potential for a well-executed update to Jedi Power Battles, delivering the nostalgic experience fans crave with enhanced gameplay.
