Star Wars Outlaws debuts its first story expansion today with "A Pirate’s Fortune" DLC across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms, largely inspired by the mischievous pirate Hondo Ohnaka.
Ubisoft Massive Entertainment's Creative Director Drew Rechner reveals the DLC originated from their development team's enthusiasm for Hondo Ohnaka, the charismatic Weequay pirate known from Darth Maul comics and Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series.
"Our team's passion made Hondo's inclusion essential. The dynamic between Kay's rogue charm and Hondo's pirate swagger creates perfect chemistry," Rechner explained to IGN.
"We envisioned Kay evolving as a leader throughout her journey, with Hondo potentially serving as an unconventional mentor—though his reliability remains questionable," Rechner added.
The expansion introduces fresh gameplay elements including confrontations with the Rokana Raiders gang, ship upgrades from the Miyuki Trade League, and a new Shock blaster ability.
While confirming Star Wars Outlaws' Nintendo Switch 2 launch on September 4, Rechner remained tight-lipped about platform-exclusive features, promising future reveals.
"We'll detail specific Switch 2 capabilities at a later date—plenty more announcements are coming,"
Potential Switch 2 optimizations may include controller-based mouse functionality and innovative GameChat integration.
