The design, deemed unattractive and masculine by many fans, drew overwhelmingly negative feedback. Comments flooded the post, criticizing the portrayal as "ugly," "terrible," and even "repulsive," with some suggesting the design made Eva appear "awakened."

This incident follows recent criticism of Naughty Dog's inclusion of explicit DEI content in Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, a sci-fi adventure whose trailer garnered a record number of dislikes. This trend of negative reception seems to be impacting the studio.

The original design of Eva in Stellar Blade, created by Shift Up, was a significant factor in the game's success, with her beauty earning widespread praise and contributing to her popularity among players.
