The rumor mill for the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series is heating up once again, and this time, it's thanks to a listing from Singapore's rating board. They've rated "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4" for a 2025 release, stoking the fires of anticipation among fans. This collection, rumored to include remakes of the next two mainline games in the iconic skateboarding franchise, is poised to roll out across a wide range of platforms, including the Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
While there's no official word from Activision just yet, a mysterious countdown timer in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has caught the attention of eagle-eyed gamers. This timer, set to reach zero on March 4, 2025, hints at impending Tony Hawk's Pro Skater news. Adding fuel to the speculation, Tony Hawk himself shared in an interview with Mythical Kitchen that he's been in talks with Activision about a new project. "It will be something the fans will truly appreciate," Hawk teased, setting expectations high.
The success of the 2020 Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 remake, which received widespread acclaim, seemed to pave the way for remakes of the subsequent games. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 and 4 were widely expected to follow, but the landscape changed when Activision merged the original remake's developer, Vicarious Visions, into Blizzard in 2021 to focus on other projects.
Tony Hawk shed light on the situation during a Twitch livestream in 2022, revealing that the original plan was to proceed with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 right after the release of 1+2. However, with Vicarious Visions no longer available, Activision sought other studios but found no suitable replacement that met their standards. "The truth of it is that [Activision] were trying to find somebody to do 3 + 4 but they just didn’t really trust anyone the way they did Vicarious, so they took other pitches from other studios," Hawk explained. "Like, ‘What would you do with the THPS title?’ And they didn’t like anything they heard, and then that was it."
As excitement builds, the big question remains: who will be developing this rumored Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 remake? The Singaporean ratings board lists only Activision as both publisher and developer, leaving fans eager for more details. With the countdown timer inching closer to its March 4 deadline, it won't be long before we potentially get the answers we're looking for.
