The video game movie genre is infamous for producing more than its fair share of flops. Films like the 1993's Super Mario Bros. and 1997's Mortal Kombat: Annihilation are notorious for their poor quality and for failing to capture the essence of the original games. Fortunately, Hollywood has shown some improvement in recent years, with successes like the Sonic the Hedgehog series and The Super Mario Bros. Movie demonstrating a more promising approach. However, not all recent attempts have been successful, with movies like Borderlands still falling short of expectations.

Despite the setbacks, Hollywood's persistence in adapting video games into films is commendable. And let's be honest, it's challenging to do worse than some of the following notorious video game movie adaptations...
