Dead Sails Kraken Boss Guide
Your adventure begins in the heart of town, across from the Gun Store and Hospital, and in front of the Trading Hut. Start by offloading any unnecessary loot and gearing up. In my opinion, a Rifle is your best bet here. Priced at only $75, it packs enough punch to fend off most enemies, at least temporarily. Don't forget to stock up on coal to fuel your boat's old-school engine.
The next town is a hefty 10,000m away, so fire up the engine and set sail. You can stop to take out Zombies and Drowned for loot, but I wouldn't recommend it—houses along the route aren't brimming with valuables. To restart your ship, just add more coal and you'll be back on track. Ignore the worm on the right side; it's harmless. Hold onto your loot until the second safe zone to sell it, but be cautious of Big Foot and Zombie mobs flanking the river.
After reaching the second safe zone/town, you'll face burning buildings teeming with mobs. Clear them out if you're with friends, but it's generally a waste of time due to unpredictable spawn points. Around 12,000m, you'll encounter a castle-like house filled with Drowned and valuable loot like Shotgun ammo. Use your resources wisely here.
Dead Sails Kraken Tips and Tricks
The core gameplay loop is straightforward: kill, loot, repeat, and hope your enemies fall. To master this, focus on efficiency. Use your boat as your primary inventory, emptying your bag upon return to save time and space.
A key strategy for my Dead Sails Kraken guide was stacking Zombies near the incinerator. While the urge to escape those backwater towns is strong, efficient loot stacking will benefit you greatly. Running low on fuel? Toss a few Zombies into the incinerator and you're set.
Keep an eye on Sheriff's offices, which often have a higher concentration of mobs but also offer ample rewards in terms of weapons and ammo. I sustained my shotgun throughout the journey by having a friend clear the ground floor while we explored each town.
Save your ammo, weapons, fuel, and medkits for the fortress at around 25,000m. It's under construction, making it prone to ambushes. I wouldn't recommend going alone; a group of at least three, ideally five, is best. Be efficient when collecting loot.
Avoid engaging Big Feet after 30,000m; they're tough, hit hard, and require a lot of ammo to defeat safely. Don't linger unnecessarily—loot isn't everything.
The town past 50,000m is a prime farming spot with at least two dozen Drowned and Zombies. If you have friends with Shotguns or a Sawn-off, it's an efficient way to gather corpses for fuel. Coordinate with your team to prep the bodies for loading quickly.

In the final safe zone, sell all your excess items and stock up on ammo, weapons, and medkits. Don't underestimate the Zombies and Drowned; prepare a stash of at least 8-10 corpses for fuel during the final leg of your journey. As you approach 100,000m, you'll hit open waters and be ready to face the Kraken. The skies will darken, signaling its approach.
When the Kraken emerges, everyone must target a tentacle. The boss has substantial health, and each tentacle can attack if not repelled. If you have five players, form a pentagram-like formation and focus on your individual tasks.
Watch out for the water splash ability, which deals area-of-effect damage and is signaled by the Kraken pulling back its tentacle, creating a water trail. Use medkits liberally, as some damage is unavoidable.
Be cautious of the Roar AoE, causing minor unblockable damage and possibly boosting the boss's damage. You'll see white concentric circles emanating from the tentacle that used the ability.
As you can see, defeating the Kraken isn't as daunting as it seems. That concludes my Dead Sails Kraken Guide. For an even quicker boss battle, grab one of our Dead Sails codes and see how fast you can sail to victory. Good luck and smooth sailing!
