"World of Warcraft Delays Plunderstorm Release"

The much-anticipated second Plunderstorm event in World of Warcraft has hit a snag, causing a delay due to unforeseen issues. Originally slated to launch before the end of January 14, eager fans will need to exercise a bit more patience before diving back into the pirate-themed battle royale mode introduced during the Dragonflight expansion in 2024. This time around, Plunderstorm promises both the original and fresh rewards for WoW players to claim.

The event's launch was initially scheduled for January 14, 2025, with a maintenance window extended from six to eight hours, aiming for servers to be up by 3 PM PST. However, according to a forum post by WoW's community manager Kaivax, "unexpected issues" have pushed back the launch further. While the team at World of Warcraft is working diligently to resolve these problems and hopes to have Plunderstorm up and running before January 14 concludes, no new estimated launch time has been provided.

When is Plunderstorm Live in World of Warcraft?

- Before the end of January 14, after "unexpected issues" are resolved

In the meantime, World of Warcraft has successfully brought its normal servers back online, allowing players to engage in other in-game activities. Whether you're looking to complete your Siren Isle weeklies, embark on the second week of the Turbulent Timeways event, or explore other aspects of The War Within, there's plenty to keep you busy while waiting for Plunderstorm.

The second iteration of Plunderstorm introduces new features like the Plunderstore and an in-game event interface accessible while logged in. These additions might be the root of the unexpected issues, but World of Warcraft's team is focused on resolving them swiftly to get the event back on track.

Despite the delay, the new Plunderstorm Twitch Drops are still up for grabs. By watching four hours of any Twitch streamer in the World of Warcraft category before February 4 at 10 AM PST, players can earn the Coward’s Azure Target back transmog. Notably, the streamer doesn't have to be playing Plunderstorm for viewers to make progress on this Drop, giving fans a way to earn rewards while awaiting the game mode's return.
