A Grander Scale for Pirate Yakuza
RGG Studio President Masayoshi Yokoyama confirmed that Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii will boast a game world 1.3 to 1.5 times larger than Like a Dragon Gaiden. This isn't a simple expansion; it's a massive leap in scale. Yokoyama hinted at the game's expansive scope, mentioning Honolulu City (featured in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth) and various other locations, including Madlantis, contributing to its considerable size. He even admitted, "We don’t even know the exact area of the city itself."
The game's content is equally impressive. Expect a robust offering of signature brawling combat, quirky side activities, and mini-games. Yokoyama suggested the traditional "Gaiden" label as a spin-off is becoming obsolete, implying this title will stand alongside mainline entries as a fully-fledged experience.
The Hawaiian setting provides a refreshing change of pace. Goro Majima, voiced again by Hidenari Ugaki, takes center stage in this unexpected pirate adventure. The circumstances surrounding Majima's transformation into a pirate remain shrouded in mystery, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the game's release. Ugaki himself expressed excitement but remained tight-lipped about plot details.
Voice actor First Summer Uika (Noah Ritchie) teased a live-action scene featuring Ryuji Akiyama (Masaru Fujita), adding another layer of intrigue. Akiyama's cryptic comments about an aquarium and "a lot of beautiful women" during recording hint at unexpected and humorous moments. These "beautiful women" may be the "Minato Ward girls," who will appear in both live-action and CG form, following auditions held earlier this year.
