Funny app to start reading and writing the first German letters and words with.

The ZEBRA WRITING TABLE app is a core component of the German textbook ZEBRA by Ernst Klett Verlag and follows its educational concept, though it can also be used independently. It provides an engaging, interactive learning path featuring instructional videos, a fun-filled game, and a variety of exercises that reflect the early stages of written language acquisition. This app serves as the introduction to the Zebra App series designed to support reading and writing development in German from grades 1 to 4.

ZEBRA WRITING TABLE offers targeted writing exercises focused on phonetically regular words derived from fundamental vocabulary. It reinforces basic sound-to-letter associations in an intuitive way. If a child enters an incorrect word, the app provides immediate feedback and automatically displays the correct spelling after the third wrong attempt. By showing both the correct answer and the child’s own input side by side, learners can compare, reflect, and identify their mistakes—promoting early orthographic awareness through playful interaction.

To keep learning fresh and engaging, the content in both practice areas is randomized with each new session, ensuring repetition never becomes monotonous—even after multiple plays.

The app includes two main practice areas:

SWINGING SYLLABLES AND WRITING
This section introduces children to the Zebra writing table through interactive exercises:
- “Initial-Sound-Rap”
- Movie: “Speak – Listen – Swing”
- Task: “Hear and Swing”
- “ZEBRA Writing Table Game”
- Movie: “Writing with the Zebra Writing Table”
- Task: “Swing and Write” (simple level)
- Task: “Swing and Write” (difficult level)

HEARING SOUNDS
This area strengthens phonological awareness—an essential foundation for literacy development. It includes the following listening exercise types:
- Which word begins with...?
- Which words sound similar at the beginning?
- Where do you hear the sound in the word?
- With which sound does the word begin?

Previously, the four listening tasks in the HEARING SOUNDS section were available as an in-app purchase. However, this functionality has been updated: as of version 3.3.4, in-app purchases have been removed entirely. All content is now fully accessible without additional cost. The teacher-parent area remains securely protected by a numerical barrier, preventing unintended access or purchases. This ensures that children cannot accidentally trigger any transactions, keeping the learning environment safe and focused.
