Big Bad Wolf, the studio behind acclaimed titles like Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong and The Council, has unveiled its next project: Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss. The announcement was accompanied by a stunning CG trailer that introduces players to Noah, a protagonist wrestling with growing madness, the sunken city of R’lyeh, and the legendary Great Old One, Cthulhu.
Set in 2053, the story unfolds as corporate deep-sea mining operations awaken an ancient cosmic horror. Players will assume the role of Noah, an agent within Interpol’s covert Occult Affairs division, charged with investigating the baffling disappearances of miners in the Pacific Ocean. Armed with an AI companion named Key, players will uncover the mysteries of the submerged city of R’lyeh, solve complex puzzles, and struggle to hold onto their sanity beneath Cthulhu’s maddening gaze.
Built on Unreal Engine 5, the game delivers surreal, reality-distorting environments that pull players deep into its eerie world. The trailer is already live, hinting at a gripping and intense experience. Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss is scheduled to launch in 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
