Tarneeb is a card game played by two teams, each consisting of two players sitting opposite each other. Using a standard 52-card deck, play proceeds counter-clockwise. Each player bids on the number of "Allmat" (tricks) their team expects to win in a round.
The player who wins the bid declares the "Tarneeb" (trump suit) and initiates a paper-throwing mini-game. Other players must throw the same type of paper. The player who successfully throws matching paper wins the round ("Bamh"). If a player doesn't have the matching paper type, they forfeit and the next player gets the Tarneeb option. Tarneeb papers are superior to other paper types; the player throwing the strongest Tarneeb paper wins unless another player throws an even stronger one. The round concludes when all players have discarded their papers.
Points are tallied at the end of each round. A team only scores points if they meet or exceed their bid for Allmat. If successful, they add the number of Allmat won to their score. If unsuccessful, the number of Allmat they won is added to the opposing team's score, and the bidding team loses points.
If a team bids for and wins 13 Allmat without requesting 13 specifically, they receive 16 points. Successfully bidding and winning 13 Allmat awards 26 points. Failing to achieve a bid of 13 results in a 16-point deduction.
The game ends when one team reaches a total score of 41 or more points, declaring them the winner.
