Svara is a card game.

This game goes by various names and has several variations: sikka, sichka, strekoza, trinka, trynka, drynka, three cards, two cards, and others.

Key Features:

The game can be played by 2 to 10 players.

A standard 52-card deck is used. For games with up to 4 players, a 20-card deck is used, ranging from Tens to Aces.

For games with 5 to 10 players, a 36-card deck is used (from Sixes to Aces).

A Joker is included in the game, which is typically designated by agreement as a card of any suit (most commonly a Six).

Card Values:

Joker and Ace — 11 points

King down to Ten — 10 points

Lower cards are worth their standard face value.

The player with the highest total points wins.

Game Rules:

A dealer is chosen by drawing lots. Players contribute a pre-agreed sum of money to the pot.

The dealer then gives each player three cards, after which players decide whether to fold or stay in the game.

Points are counted for cards that match in suit—known as a flush (for example, a Seven and a Jack of Clubs give 17 points).

Otherwise, the player only scores points from their highest-ranking card.

If a player holds three cards of the same rank (a three-of-a-kind, or 'trynka'), their combined score always beats any flush (unless it is a higher three-of-a-kind).

Next comes the betting round. The player to the immediate right of the dealer places a bet.

The following players can either fold, call, or raise the bet.

At the end of the round, the first player decides whether to continue betting or to reveal the cards.

The pot is awarded to the player with the highest total points.

If two or more players have an equal point total, it is decided whether to split the pot or initiate a new round, called a "svara".

The essence of a "svara" is that a new round starts with the same pot amount plus an additional contribution of 1/N (where N = the amount from the previous round).

Other players may also join the new round by making the required contribution.

The game also allows bluffing: raising the bet while knowingly holding a weaker hand.

If successful, the bluffing player wins the pot without showing their cards.

Additionally, the player next to the dealer has the option to place a side bet of any amount, known as playing "in the dark".

In this case, the player must not look at their own cards.

The subsequent players, if they wish to continue, must place a bet that is twice the amount of the "dark" bet.
