This acquisition isn't just about reviving the brand; it's about bringing back the full team, including production and beyond.

Gunzilla Games, currently known for Off the Grid, which is in Early Access, and for developing GunZ, a "Layer-1 blockchain ecosystem" that supports community-driven economies in AAA games, has big plans. Notably, the team includes the acclaimed director Neill Blomkamp as their chief creative officer and co-founder, famous for movies like District 9 and Chappie.

The new owners "insisted on the idea of Game Informer remaining an independent editorial outlet," ensuring that the editorial team has full control over content decisions without external influence. Under the new entity, Game Informer Inc., the publication is picking up right where it left off, with over 30 years of history to celebrate.

The team has been busy during their hiatus, amassing "dozens" of new reviews for games released in that period and preparing their Best of 2024 awards.
