Marvel Halts Development on Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. Series

Author : Caleb Update:May 02,2025

Marvel Television has reportedly hit pause on the development of three highly anticipated shows: Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. According to sources cited by Deadline, these projects were never officially greenlit and could potentially still see the light of day, but Marvel has shifted its focus elsewhere. This strategic pivot comes as Marvel Studios gears up for the launch of the Disney+ series, Daredevil: Born Again. This week, Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios' head of streaming and TV, unveiled plans to explore the reunion of the street-level heroes from Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist, collectively known as The Defenders.

Marvel Studios is now adopting a strategy of developing more shows than it ultimately produces. As Brad Winderbaum noted in a conversation with Screen Rant last year, "We’re really being careful about what we choose to do next." This cautious approach reflects a deliberate effort to refine their content pipeline.

The news regarding Nova is particularly surprising. Just two months ago, it was announced that Ed Bernero, formerly the showrunner of Criminal Minds, had joined the project as both writer and showrunner, with Nova confirmed as a series for Disney+. Strange Academy was set to explore the world of a magic school established by the MCU's Doctor Strange, with Wong at the helm. Meanwhile, there is still no detailed information available on Terror, Inc.

Here’s what you can look forward to in terms of confirmed Marvel TV shows: Daredevil: Born Again will premiere on Disney+ on March 4, followed by Ironheart on June 24, and Wonder Man in December. On the movie front, following the release of Captain America: Brave New World, fans can anticipate three more MCU films this year: Thunderbolts in May and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
