F.H. Disillusion: The Library

The heavy oak doors of the Forgotten Hill Museum groan shut behind you, sealing you in silence. Dust hangs motionless in the air, illuminated only by flickering candlelight that casts long, trembling shadows across ancient bookshelves. The scent of aged paper, damp stone, and something faintly metallic lingers just beneath your breath.

You stand at the threshold of The Library—a labyrinth of towering shelves that stretch into darkness, their spines inscribed with names you don’t recognize… and some that you should.

A single book lies open on a pedestal before you. Its pages are blank… but as you approach, words begin to form in ink that bleeds like blood:

"To begin, you must remember what you’ve forgotten. Look not to the title, but to the shape of the letters. The first word is not what it seems. And the second? It lies in the reflection."

From the far end of the hall, a rustling. A man in a moth-eaten coat steps from behind a bookshelf—Mr. Larson, his eyes hollow, his fingers trembling as he holds a cracked pocket watch.

"You’ve come at last," he whispers, voice like paper tearing. "The wine is uncorked. The door is open. But the truth… the truth is still locked away."

A faint sound echoes from behind a bookshelf—a bottle clinking against glass. The air grows colder.

What do you do?

• Examine the book more closely. The letters seem to shift when you blink. Is there a hidden message in the reflection on the page’s surface?
• Approach Mr. Larson. His watch is stopped at 3:07. He hasn’t moved since you arrived. Is he real? Or another ghost of this museum?
• Turn and search the shelves for a book titled The First Lie. You’ve heard it mentioned in whispers—no one remembers who said it.
• Listen. Beneath the silence, something breathes. Follow the sound. It leads to a narrow door… or a gap in the wall.

"Never trust your eyes," the voice from the book seems to sigh.
