The DOOM franchise's cross-platform compatibility continues to amaze. A recent feat showcases the game running on an unexpected platform: Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter. NyanSatan, the individual behind this achievement, leveraged the adapter's iOS-based firmware and 168 MHz processor to successfully run the classic DOOM. Due to the adapter's lack of internal memory, a MacBook was used to facilitate the firmware transfer and game execution.
Regarding upcoming DOOM iterations, DOOM: The Dark Ages introduces a significant accessibility focus. Players will have extensive customization options, allowing adjustments to demon aggression, enemy damage, difficulty levels, projectile speed, damage received, and even game tempo and parry timing. This level of customization surpasses that of previous id Software titles.
Executive producer Marty Stratton emphasized the game's accessibility, confirming that prior DOOM experience isn't necessary to understand the narratives of DOOM: The Dark Ages or its connection to DOOM: Eternal.
