Summary

  • Metaphor: ReFantazio is rumored to be part of the Nintendo Switch 2 launch window.
  • Multiple leakers have indicated that Metaphor will be available on the new console.
  • Persona 3 Reload is also rumored for the Switch 2.

According to recent rumors, the critically acclaimed 2024 game, Metaphor: ReFantazio, could be featured in the launch window of the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. While Nintendo has yet to officially unveil the Switch 2, leaks about this eagerly awaited next-generation console continue to surface.

The Switch 2 is expected to offer enhanced performance and various quality-of-life improvements over its predecessor. Rumors suggest an imminent reveal, with a possible launch in May or June of this year. However, the validity of these claims is still uncertain.

One of the most recent leaks comes from the well-known leaker PH Brazil, who hinted that Metaphor: ReFantazio might not be a launch title for the Switch 2 but is expected to be released within the console's "launch window." Historically, Nintendo's launch windows extend from the console's release date to the end of the year.

Metaphor: ReFantazio garnered significant praise upon its release, earning nominations at The Game Awards 2024, including Game of the Year, and winning awards for Best Narrative and Best Art Direction. Given the strong partnership between Nintendo and Metaphor's publisher, Sega, it seems a natural fit to bring the game to the Switch 2.

This isn't the first time we've heard about Metaphor: ReFantazio potentially coming to the Switch 2. A previous leak also mentioned that Persona 3 Reload might be in development for the console. This early third-party support is a positive sign for Nintendo's next-generation system.

In addition to Metaphor: ReFantazio, other titles rumored for the Switch 2 launch window include over half a dozen games from Ubisoft, as well as potential releases from Konami and Microsoft. There are also whispers that the next Mario Kart will be a launch title, with a new 3D Super Mario game slated for release within the launch window. However, fans will need to wait for official announcements to confirm these rumors.
