In a recent interview, director Junya Ishizaki shared that Elden Ring: Nightreign will feature major environmental transformations through procedurally generated volcanoes, swamps, and forests.
We aimed to make the entire map feel like one massive dungeon, giving players fresh exploration opportunities with every playthrough. At the conclusion of the third in-game day, players must select which boss to challenge.Junya Ishizaki
This approach not only diversifies gameplay but also motivates players to adapt their strategies for the final encounter in each session. According to the developer, by the end of the third in-game day, players have to commit to which boss they will ultimately face. This decision lets players prepare accordingly and explore areas that could offer a tactical edge against their chosen opponent.

Ishizaki stressed that adding roguelike mechanics isn't about following trends. Instead, it helps condense the role-playing experience and keeps the game dynamic.
