Despite efforts to keep EA's upcoming untitled Battlefield game under wraps with NDAs, leaks have flooded the internet, showcasing gameplay from the game's closed playtesting. These leaks, featuring numerous videos and screenshots, have surfaced across various platforms, revealing what players have been experiencing.
As previously reported when the leaks first emerged, the footage aligns with the modern setting hinted at by Vince Zampella, setting this game apart from its predecessors. A quick browse through the Battlefield subreddit reveals intense firefights, demonstrations of the game's destructible environments, and new gameplay mechanics such as the ability to hang off vehicles and drag wounded teammates to safety.
Surprisingly, EA has taken a notably relaxed approach to these leaks. Typically, game publishers are quick to issue takedowns for unauthorized early footage due to concerns over incomplete elements like animations, UI, and graphics. Yet, despite players breaching their confidentiality agreements, EA has not moved to remove the content.
This leniency might be influenced by the positive reception the leaked footage has received, in stark contrast to the tepid response to Battlefield 2042. Fans have expressed enthusiasm for what they've seen, with one player stating, "I am scared to say that but this game is shaping up very damn well. I hope there are no catches…" Another added, "The animations of the weapons moving around while running / doing anything look better than 2042 to me." Enthusiasm continued with comments like, "Dude, even in a pre-alpha state, the explosions, bullets, and projectiles whizzing by, buildings crumbling down, dust kicking up. This has so much potential!" and "I can't get over how good the sounds and the destruction look at alpha."
EA anticipates the release of this new Battlefield title within the fiscal year 2026, spanning from April 2025 to March 2026. The game's first official unveiling last month confirmed the exciting return of a traditional, single-player, linear campaign, a feature fans missed in the multiplayer-focused Battlefield 2042.
