Borderlands 4: Latest News and Community Buzz
Devolver Digital's Ongoing Feud with Gearbox Leadership
With Borderlands 4's release on the horizon, developer Devolver Digital has again targeted Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford over his past remarks. In a July 10 social media post, Devolver announced the early access launch of their cooperative shooter *Mycopunk* while taking a shot at Borderlands' pricing structure.
Pitchford previously drew community criticism for stating that a rumored $80 price point for Borderlands 4 wouldn't be an issue for "real fans." Despite his subsequent apology, Devolver appears intent on keeping the controversy alive.

Following reports that Borderlands 4 will be priced at $70, Devolver quipped that fans could purchase *Mycopunk* for 4.6 times that amount. This isn't the first time Devolver has needled Pitchford; a May 21 tweet stated, "You're gonna be able to buy Mycopunk for you and three of your friends for the price of one copy of Borderlands 4."
Devolver is renowned for its unconventional, often satirical approach to marketing and its support for innovative indie titles. Their portfolio includes the *Hotline Miami* and *Serious Sam* series, *Enter the Gungeon*, *Katana Zero*, and more, consistently championing diverse games that stand out in a crowded market.
While a clear rivalry exists, both Borderlands 4 and *Mycopunk* share similarities as cel-shaded sci-fi shooters. Devolver's latest post may serve to promote *Mycopunk's* early access launch or simply to critique rising game prices and Pitchford's comments.
Introducing Vex: Character Trailer and Gameplay Details
As the launch of Borderlands 4 approaches, Gearbox is releasing a series of character shorts. The first introduces Vex, a new Vault Hunter who offers a fresh take on the classic Siren class. Her short film reveals a brutal backstory, beginning her journey as a cashier who awakens her Siren powers and flees her retail confines.
Her gameplay overview previews key abilities like Incarnate, Dead Ringer, and Phase Phamiliar. Departing from previous support-focused Sirens, Vex summons creatures—including Reapers, Spectres, and a giant spectral cat named "Trouble"—to unleash elemental mayhem on enemies.
Gearbox and 2K Games will release more character shorts and trailers for other new Vault Hunters like Rafa, Amon, and Harlowe in the coming weeks. Borderlands 4 launches on September 12, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. For the latest updates, explore our related coverage below.
