At EVO 2024, Capcom showcased Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, a compilation featuring seven iconic titles from the Versus series, including the legendary Marvel vs. Capcom 2. IGN interviewed producer Shuhei Matsumoto, gaining valuable insight into the project's development and Capcom's long-term vision.
Matsumoto revealed a three-to-four-year development process, emphasizing the dedication required to bring this collection to fruition. Initial discussions with Marvel led to some delays, but the collaboration ultimately proved fruitful, driven by a shared desire to introduce these classics to a new generation. "We've been planning for about three, four years to make this project a reality," Matsumoto stated, underscoring Capcom's commitment to its fans and the enduring legacy of the Versus series.
