What Does the Curio of the Nine Do in Destiny 2?

Destiny 2's Heresy Episode introduces a mysterious item: the Curio of the Nine. This enigmatic token, described as bearing "markings of the Nine," has sparked player curiosity. Despite its connection to the lore surrounding the Nine, the game offers little explanation of its purpose, stating that the Nine "do not wish to reveal the purpose for seeking your favor yet…"

While you can discard the Curio of the Nine, the game strongly advises against it, warning that it's irretrievable. Given the Nine's ominous presence in Destiny 2 lore, it's wise to retain the item, at least for the duration of the Heresy Episode.

The Heresy Episode, launched February 4th, 2025, is structured into three Acts, each spanning several weeks. Therefore, its conclusion is anticipated sometime in the summer or possibly early fall of 2025, though an official end date remains unannounced. Until then, the Curio of the Nine remains a puzzle, adding to the intrigue of the Heresy storyline.
