Defunct dance duo Daft Punk will return to life in Fortnite this month through a new interactive tribute experience.
The Daft Punk Experience opens its digital doors this Saturday, September 27 at 11am Pacific, 2pm Eastern, or 7pm UK time — but don’t anticipate a typical Fortnite concert.
Instead, shaped by the fact that Daft Punk no longer perform live, expect a "playground" where you can remix their tracks, create a Lego Music video, or just tune in and dance.
Epic Games, Fortnite’s developer, has confirmed no new music will be unveiled during the Experience. And to be perfectly clear, the event’s FAQ states:
"Is Daft Punk getting back together? No. The Daft Punk Experience is an immersive music experience based on the band’s beloved music. The band is not getting back together."
As always, Fortnite will support this collaboration with a range of digital items available in its in-game shop. You’ll be able to purchase the GM08 and TB3 skins, instruments for Fortnite’s Festival music mode, and music tracks like Get Lucky.
Earlier today, we covered the launch of another new Fortnite feature: its proximity chat-focused battle royale mode, Delulu. So far, the mode has started strongly, though it has triggered a wave of bans affecting "thousands" of accounts.
