Exploring Deep Woods Access in Fields of Mistria

Since *Fields of Mistria* entered Early Access on Steam, the Deep Woods area has been a tantalizing mark on the town map, but it remained inaccessible until the game's March 2025 update. This update not only opened up this mysterious area but also introduced players to Caldarus, a key figure in the game. Here’s how you can unlock the Deep Woods and locate Caldarus in *Fields of Mistria*.

How To Unlock the Deep Woods in Fields of Mistria

The key to accessing the Deep Woods lies in breaking the Fire Seal and mastering the new Dragon’s Breath spell to burn through the vines that shroud the entrance. To start, head to Floor 60 in the mines and place four items on the Priestess’ Fire Seal altar: a Faceted Rock Gem, a Rockroot, an Emerald, and a Sealing Scroll. You can gather the first three items between floors 50 and 59, but obtaining the Sealing Scroll requires teamwork with Juniper and Balor.

To help Balor secure the Sealing Scroll, you'll need to deposit the following items in the bin by his wagon:

• x10 Silver Ingots
• x10 Rubies
• x10 Sapphires
• x10 Emeralds

After fulfilling these requirements, talk to Balor, and he'll inform you that the scroll will be ready the next day. Once you have the scroll, you can complete the offering at the altar.

Typically, breaking a seal in the mines leads to a few words from the mysterious Priestess and the unlocking of a new biome. However, this time, things don't go as planned. The Priestess urgently requests you to leave before the Sealing Scroll traps you inside. As your health diminishes, Caldarus appears in his human form to assist you, then retreats to his temple in the Deep Woods to recover.

Caldarus leaves you with the Dragon’s Breath spell, a powerful tool that not only clears the vines at the Deep Woods entrance but can also reveal other hidden areas on the map. To use it, equip the spell from the pause menu and activate it while standing in front of the entrance to permanently unlock the Deep Woods and other areas.

How To Find Caldarus

After breaking the Fire Seal, you can find Caldarus in his temple within the Deep Woods. The temple is located to the north of the Eastern Road on your map. To reach it, you'll need to use the Dragon’s Breath spell to access the area. Caldarus' exact location is marked on your map, similar to other NPCs, in the northeast corner of the Deep Woods.

Enter the Deep Woods, head right, and use your axe to chop down a stump blocking your path. Continue north until you reach the temple, where Caldarus awaits inside.

Once the Deep Woods is unlocked, you can use the Dragon Statue on your farm to fast travel to the area for just 10 Essence, making visits to Caldarus quick and convenient. Even when you're not physically present, you can still interact with Caldarus through his statue, connecting with him in spirit.
