If you're a fan of the classic strategy game *ROME: Total War* on Android, you're in for a treat! Feral Interactive has just released the Imperium Update, a massive free update that brings a wealth of new gameplay tweaks, control improvements, and quality-of-life features to enhance your gaming experience. This update, which landed on Android back in 2018, is set to roll out to the standalone expansions *Barbarian Invasion* and *Alexander* next week.
What Does the Imperium Update Bring to ROME: Total War?
The Imperium Update integrates some of the best features from Feral's more recent mobile releases, such as *Total War: MEDIEVAL II* and *EMPIRE*. This update introduces three new control options: Positioning Mode, Melee Mode, and Automatic Deselection, designed to give players better command over their units and enhance the precision of battles. Now, you can simply tap and hold to move your army, agents, or fleets, eliminating the need to drag paths manually.
Positioning Mode allows for fine-tuning unit placements with a tap-and-hold action, while the Group Grid feature simplifies managing unit groups with a collapsible selection menu. Melee Mode enables ranged units to switch to close combat when necessary, adding a strategic layer to your gameplay. One of the most significant changes is the Command Slowdown feature, which automatically slows the game when issuing complex orders, making it easier to manage intricate battle plans. Additionally, for the first time, keyboard and mouse support has been added for Android and iPad users.
The minimap in *ROME: Total War* has been revamped to mimic the one in *MEDIEVAL II*, offering smoother zooming and navigation. A new reset button allows you to quickly return to the default view, enhancing user experience.
The Imperium Update is now live, so if you own *ROME: Total War* on Android, head over to the Google Play Store to install it. Don't forget to check out the updates for *Barbarian Invasion* and *Alexander* when they become available next week.
