Here's the official description:
Civilization VII - VR brings the world of Civilization to life in an unprecedented way. The game map unfolds on a Command Table, allowing players to zoom in for intricate detail or zoom out for a sweeping overview, much like a physical tabletop game. Players will interact directly with iconic world leaders around this Command Table, witnessing their reactions to alliances and declarations of war throughout history.
Civilization VII - VR offers both immersive virtual reality and mixed reality modes, seamlessly switching between the two. In VR, players are transported to an ornate museum overlooking a vista personalized to their chosen leader. In mixed reality, the Command Table adapts to the player's physical space. A dedicated Archives room within the museum displays detailed gameplay achievements in both VR and mixed reality. Beyond single-player, Civilization VII - VR supports online multiplayer for up to four players on Meta Quest 3 and 3S.
The PC and console versions of Firaxis' 4X strategy sequel are currently available to early access purchasers. Steam user reviews reveal some concerns regarding the user interface, limited map variety, and a perceived lack of features compared to previous iterations.
Firaxis has responded to this feedback, promising improvements to the UI, the addition of team-based cooperative multiplayer, a wider variety of map types, and other enhancements.
In an interview with IGN preceding the release of third-quarter financial results, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick acknowledged negative reviews from both press and players, but expressed confidence that the "legacy Civ audience" would appreciate the game more with continued play, describing its early performance as "very encouraging."
