Sony, in collaboration with game developer Santa Monica Studio, has unveiled the Dark Odyssey collection, an exciting new update for God of War Ragnarök set to launch next week. This free update, arriving on March 20, brings a host of in-game equipment themed around one of the franchise's most iconic outfits, enhancing the visual experience for players on PlayStation 5 and PC.
In a detailed post on the PlayStation.Blog, Sony outlined the 20th anniversary celebrations for the God of War series, with the Dark Odyssey collection taking center stage. This update introduces a sleek black-and-gold aesthetic to the game, ensuring that Kratos and his companions, Atreus and Freya, look their finest as they navigate the realms of Norse mythology. Alongside Kratos' new look, players can also customize the appearance of their shields and weapons, adding a fresh layer of personalization without compromising on performance.
The highlight of the Dark Odyssey collection is undoubtedly the new armor set and appearance for Kratos, which pays homage to a legendary skin from God of War 2 that was previously exclusive to players who conquered the game on God Mode difficulty. This coveted set can be claimed from any Lost Items chest in the base game or directly in the roguelike Valhalla mode post-update. Moreover, the update allows players to customize Kratos' weapons' appearance without affecting their abilities, offering a new level of customization and engagement.
