It was recently announced at Star Wars Celebration that Hayden Christensen is set to reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker in Season 2 of Ahsoka.
Although specific details about Anakin’s storyline in the upcoming season remain under wraps, fans are thrilled to know that Ahsoka’s connection with her former master will continue to unfold on screen.
Christensen made a special appearance at the Ahsoka panel where he reflected on stepping back into the role of Anakin.
“It was a dream come true to return to this character,” Christensen shared. “The creative approach—using the World Between Worlds—was absolutely brilliant. It opened up an incredible opportunity to explore new dimensions of Anakin's journey.”
Dave Filoni, the creator of Ahsoka, humorously noted that bringing Anakin back required some imaginative storytelling. “I had to invent entirely new dimensions just to make this happen,” he joked.
Christensen also revealed that he and the production team explored previously animated storylines from the Clone Wars era, discussing what Anakin might have experienced beyond what was already established.
“All of these moments were beautifully captured in animation before, but getting to portray them in live action was really exciting,” Christensen said. “And while I’ll always love the classic Jedi robes from the prequels, it was refreshing to see Anakin in a completely new look.”
In further discussion during the panel, Filoni highlighted how his past work with George Lucas helped shape the way he approached Anakin’s return. This deep understanding allowed him and Christensen to collaborate more effectively, filling in each other’s knowledge gaps and crafting a more complete portrayal of the character.Christensen closed with a nod to Lucas’ iconic directing style: “I always hear George’s voice in my head saying, ‘faster, more intense!’”
