Konami and FIFA's surprising esports collaboration: The FIFAe Virtual World Cup 2024!
Who would have guessed? After years of competition between FIFA and PES, FIFA and Konami's eFootball are teaming up for a major esports event: the FIFAe Virtual World Cup 2024. This unexpected partnership marks a significant shift in the gaming landscape.
In-Game Qualifiers Now Live on eFootball!
The tournament features two divisions: Console (PS4 and PS5) and Mobile. Eighteen countries are vying for the final spots: Brazil, Japan, Argentina, Portugal, Spain, England, France, Costa Rica, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Morocco, Netherlands, Poland, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Thailand, and Turkey.
The action begins with a three-part in-game qualifier running from October 10th to 20th. Following this, the National Nomination Phase starts from October 28th to November 3rd for the 18 participating nations.
The offline final round will conclude in late 2024; the exact date is yet to be announced. Even if your country isn't among the 18, you can still participate in the qualifiers up to Round 3, earning rewards like 50 eFootball coins, 30,000 XP, and other bonuses.

An Unexpected Twist: FIFA and Konami Unite!
This collaboration is particularly noteworthy given the long-standing rivalry between EA and Konami. For some background, EA and FIFA ended their partnership in 2022 after a decade, reportedly due to a significant disagreement over licensing fees.
FIFA's demand of a billion dollars every four years, a massive increase from the previous $150 million, ultimately led to the split. This resulted in the launch of EA Sports FC 24 in 2023 without the FIFA branding. Now, FIFA has found a new partner in Konami's eFootball for the FIFAe World Cup 2024.
