NetEase Games has announced a ban on keyboard and mouse adapters in Marvel Rivals on PS5 and Xbox Series consoles. The use of adapters like XIM, Cronus Zen, Titan Two, KeyMander, and Brook Sniper, which simulate gamepad input from a keyboard and mouse, is considered a violation of the game's terms of service. This is due to the unfair advantage provided by increased control precision and maintained aim assist, particularly in competitive modes with auto-targeting.
NetEase employs sophisticated detection tools to identify adapter usage with high accuracy, resulting in account bans upon detection. The company explicitly states that these devices create an unacceptable gameplay imbalance.
Separately, a correlation has been observed between higher FPS and increased ping in Marvel Rivals. While less noticeable at lower pings, a jump from, for example, 90ms to 150ms significantly impacts gameplay. This issue appears linked to frame rate. Until a patch addresses this, players are advised to experiment with FPS settings, with some suggesting maintaining around 90 FPS as a temporary solution, despite this being counterintuitive to players accustomed to higher frame rates in other games.
