The director of Monster Hunter Wilds, Yuya Tokuda, has unveiled exciting details about the upcoming Ver. 1.011 update, set for release on May 28. This update promises a wealth of new features and adjustments, highlighted by a thrilling collaboration with Street Fighter 6. In his latest Director's Letter, Tokuda emphasized the team's commitment to enhancing the gameplay experience and delivering fresh content. A standout addition is the new challenger, Street Fighter's Akuma, accompanied by a full Arkuma armor set and layered armor. Equipping either set will grant players access to three unique items in their item bar: assisted combo Akuma, Drive Impact, and Gou Hadoken. Ver. 1.011 introduces eight-star "challenging" monsters, including Gore Magala, Rey Dau, Uth Duna, Nu Udra, and Jin Dahaad, available for hunting at HR 41 and above. These formidable creatures offer an alternative to hunting the seven-star Arkveld, boasting enhanced resilience, increased health, and wound resistance, along with adjustments to multiplayer scaling. Tokuda highlighted Tempered Gore Magala as a particularly daunting challenge, even for seasoned hunters. Players can anticipate more high-difficulty quests and multi-monster encounters as their HR progresses.
The update also includes a series of "player-centric balance adjustments" affecting the Hammer, Hunting Horn, Gunlance, Light Bowgun, and Heavy Bowgun, with specific enhancements to Gunlance Artian weapons. Tokuda explained that while some parameters for certain weapons have been adjusted downward, others have been improved, ensuring that each weapon type offers expanded possibilities. He encourages players to experiment with these changes upon the update's release. Additionally, the Hammer and Dual Blades will receive further improvements.
Quality of life (QoL) enhancements are also part of the update. Hunters can now rest in the Grand Hub and Suja, Peaks of Accord, which restores all destroyed Pop-up Camps. A confirmation window will no longer appear when obtaining an item with a full item pouch; the item will automatically transfer to the item box. The visibility of meal effect durations has been improved, with a countdown appearing 10 minutes before expiration. Notification adjustments will reduce their frequency in locales, displaying only high-priority targets in the environment overview and no longer blocking map access.
Tokuda reiterated the ability to view captured endemic life, as mentioned in the previous Director's Letter. In the Windward Plains, players can access the "Check Endemic Life" feature in Ecological Research to review their captured creatures, including their names, and the size and weight of caught fish. Players can also favorite creatures to keep them even if storage capacity is exceeded, noting that individual creatures may have unique patterns or elements.
Stability improvements, particularly on Steam, are expected, and with the introduction of eight-star monsters, rewards for eight-star investigations and field surveys have been boosted. Guild Point rewards for fishing have been "rebalanced," though specifics remain undisclosed.
