NieR: Automata - What Items Should You Sell

NieR: Automata: Maximizing Profits and Spending Wisely

Almost every item in NieR: Automata can be sold, making efficient selling crucial for resource management. While selling machine drops is convenient, many items serve other purposes, so indiscriminate selling should be avoided. Some items offer significantly better returns than others. This guide outlines the best items to sell and the most effective ways to use your hard-earned credits.

Best Items to Sell in NieR: Automata

The key indicator for sellable items is the in-game description: "Can be exchanged for money." This signifies high sale value and lack of alternative uses. Prioritize selling:

  • Fish and Junk (Fishing Rewards): These are purely monetary assets.
  • Jewelry: High value, readily sellable items.
  • Masks: Another category with good resale value.
  • Animal Meat: Unnecessary unless you're specifically using it for a recipe (which isn't common).

Many other items are crafting materials for weapon and pod upgrades. Given the abundance of weapons, prioritize upgrading your preferred ones rather than repeatedly farming for resources you may have already discarded.

Best Ways to Spend Money in NieR: Automata

While selling is important, strategic spending is equally crucial. Beyond consumables, prioritize these three areas:

Method Explanation Upgrade Plug-In Chip Capacity At the Resistance Camp's Maintenance Shop, increase your plug-in chip storage. This upgrade benefits all three loadouts, even after death. Fuse Plug-In Chips Combine lower-tier chips to create significantly more efficient higher-tier chips. This requires many of the same chip type and substantial credits per fusion. Upgrade Weapons & Pod Weapon and pod upgrades are relatively inexpensive, but acquiring the necessary resources can be time-consuming. Avoid this bottleneck by investing in upgrades promptly.
