Nintendo Switch 2: Genki's CES Mockup Reveals Key Features
Genki, a prominent handheld gaming accessory developer, unveiled a 3D-printed Nintendo Switch 2 mockup at CES 2025, revealing several key design features. This model, reportedly based on a black market acquisition, accurately reflects the console's dimensions and confirms several circulating rumors.
Genki CEO Eddie Tsai confirmed the Switch 2's magnetic Joy-Con controllers, featuring SL and SR buttons that detach via a pin mechanism. Despite the magnetic design, the Joy-Con remain securely attached during gameplay. Furthermore, Tsai revealed the presence of optical sensors within the Joy-Con's mounting channels, hinting at potential mouse-like functionality via a yet-to-be-released accessory. Leaked images seem to corroborate this feature.
While larger than its predecessor, the Switch 2's slim profile allows it to physically fit within the existing Switch dock. However, structural differences render it incompatible. The purpose of a new "C" button and an additional USB-C port remain undisclosed.
