The Nintendo Switch 2 announcement trailer reveals a larger console than its predecessor. While Nintendo hasn't released official dimensions, a comparison with a Genki mock-up, remarkably accurate to the trailer's depiction, allows for estimations.

Switch 2 Screen Size:
Estimated at 8 inches diagonally (excluding bezels), aligning with prior rumors. This translates to approximately 177mm wide and 99mm tall. This represents a nearly 30% diagonal increase and a 66% larger area compared to the original Switch's 6.2-inch screen. The Switch Lite's 5.5-inch screen is dwarfed, with the Switch 2 being 45% larger diagonally and 111% larger in area. Even against the Switch OLED's 7-inch display, the Switch 2 boasts a 14% diagonal and 30% area advantage. While larger than the original Switch OLED and Steam Deck's 7-inch screen, the Switch 2 is still slightly smaller than the Steam Deck OLED's 7.4-inch display.

Switch 2 Overall Console Size:
Measurements from the Genki mock-up suggest a Switch 2 length of approximately 265mm and a height of 115mm (Joy-Cons included). This is roughly 25% larger than the original Switch (239mm x 102mm), 61% larger than the Switch Lite, and about 12% smaller than the Steam Deck. Depth is estimated to be similar to the original Switch.

Switch 2 Joy-Con Size:
Estimated at 32mm wide and 115mm tall – the same width as the original, but 13mm taller, representing a 13% increase in size.
Switch 2 Screen Unit Size:
Subtracting Joy-Con dimensions from the overall console size estimates the screen unit at 200mm long and 115mm tall, approximately 31% larger than the original Switch. This size comfortably accommodates the 8-inch screen with estimated bezels of 11mm on the sides and 8mm on the top and bottom.
These dimensions are estimations based on the Genki mock-up and image analysis. While not officially confirmed, they provide a strong indication of the Switch 2's size increase. Expect a console roughly 25% larger than the original.
